I have a sony vaio VGN-FW378J laptop which runs in Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit. My problem seems to have started when I installed several windows updates which included windows essentials 2011, IE9 and others. Service Pack 2 was already installed prior to installing the said updates. My laptop freezes very often since then and it happens almost everytime I use the internet explorer. The screen turns black and I cannot do anything else but reboot my computer. I was thinking that it was with my graphics card or my monitor but i noticed later that even the sound freezes too. What I did was to recover my entire system and it did solve the problem until windows update updated/upgraded features like windows essentials, IE & etc. again. I'm not actually using windows essentials except for the messenger but i do use IE all the time. I tried to unistall the update for IE and reverted it back to IE8 and my computer has stopped crashing for two days now. So I'm assuming that it was really IE9 that was causing my problem. was it? Is there any remedy, say patch to solve the issue?
Any comment will be appreciated. Thanks
