Computer Recognized After Deleting Browsing History

Evening Forum:

Happened to delete my browsing history in IE8 tonight (all delete options selected) before logging onto the web. Proceeded to Vista Forums and was shocked when I saw "Welcome, NuToVista"!

Shouldn't deleting my browsing history have deleted any/all cookies that allow my computer to be recognized by a website? How is Vista Forums recognizing my PC?

Deleting browsing history, does not delete the cookies. They are two different things.

In IE8 if you have Vistax64 listed as a favorite (favorite bar),it will not delete the cookie(s) unless you set it to (by unchecking the box)
