Chkdsk hanging over 12 hrs

Recently I've been getting random windows message saying something is shut down and been unable to find a solution and then also random BSOD and events.

Last night I ran the check disk by Method 1. It is stuck in the same place it was last night when I went to bed.

I'm not sure what to do now. I don't want to cause damage.

Thanks Brink. I think my main question is can I do a hard shut down?

If there's no HDD activity, then it should be ok to do a hard shut down.
