Changing System Manufacturer

I'm wondering where/how (where at) I would customize the "System Manufacturer/Product Name" listed in the WEI as seen in the snip below.

Thanks, that helped. It changed it at the main system page but not at the WEI page.

Of course I couldnt try this myself because my laptop is stuffed.Okay try this:
Open the registry editor and navigate to this place HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Microsoft > Windows > CurrentVersion > OEMInformation. Once you find it, you'll find fields that you can update the following:

Logo (this needs to be a bitmap file)
Manufacturer
Supp:eek:rt Hours
Supp:eek:rt Phone Number
Supp:eek:rt website.

Thank you, you did help me to change some of it but the rest is not what I'm trying to change. I'm glad you made "Power User"......you've earned it.

I dug up a snip of my old system that had the manufacturer (HP) and model number listed, so there must be a way to change it at the rest of these listings or they wouldn't be able to do it.

Does anyone have any ideas where I can change this? Thank you.

Hi Ted,

I have had a rummage around in the registry and made a few tests with possible changes (simply adding 1 to the end of data which could be what you are after), but have had no success. I can only conclude that both these tools draw this information directly from the motherboard BIOS.

I too investigated this issue some time ago but could not find any way to change certain items which may I think be hard coded somewhere in a system file at install time

And although it's, as you rightly say, not a major issue. it is a very annoying one when you have spent all the time on building a machine to not have the ability to apply the little finishing details

LOL nice. I too found this amusing, though not particularly useful.

I have not named it fun though. Saving that for my reinstall soon.....

As to the coded on thing, I believe (don't remember where I got this) that the system info in hard coded into the mobo when they put them in PB systems. So you would not be able to change it unless you get a new mobo.
