Change Passwort @ Unlock Screensaver Screen

Hi folks,

just wanted to ask you if you guys know the answer. I just want to get rid of the forceunlock problem and your password is expired at the same time.
That means you have to switch off your PC and restart it from scratch. Apps which were open are gone. Thats not that nice. I just know that there should be an option or tickbox "Change Passwort" at the screensaver unlock page.

Does anybody know how to activate that? Maybe via a certain GPO setting? I wasnt able to find such setting via google.

Thanks in advance,
Anloor

Check under administration tools for info about password expiry and how you could change it to a non-expiry password. Wish i was near ma pc, i would have given stepwise procedure.

Hi Shawn and thanks for the nice and warm welcome! Just try to go a bit more in detail: It is wanted that the accounts expire, thats the way we designed it. This option should not be changed. The problem is when the password expires when your screensaver is on and the system is locked. When you try to unlock it when your account is expired, then there should be a tickbox "Change Password" right in the screen where you can unlock the screensaver. The question is how to enable this. Maybe you can help`? Thanks again! Anloor

Sorry Anloor,

You might see if enabling Password Protect the Screen Saver for all users using Option Two or Option Three in the tutorial below may help. It require them to enter their password when resuming from the screen saver. If expired, it should bring up the "change password" like in the log on screen.

Hi Shawn,

thanks again for your link. I checked it but it seems its "only" the standard procedure of how to activate the screen saver.
What happens when you enable it and you password expires is a small dialog which tells you "Your account is expired. You have to switch user or log on to change your password." You can now click ok and it jumpes back to a blank line where you can enter your password again.
There are only 2 choices now. Go to a colleagues PC and change your password there. Then you can unlock your own computer with the new password. But when you are offline, working local, there is NO chance of unlocking your PC. You have to switch it off via power button and restart the whole system. Loggin on there will show up the dialog "Your password has expired. Please change it now." I just want to have that dialog (or a tick box "change password") when I try to unlock my PC from screensaver.

Thanks again for your help!
Anloor

add: It just doesnt show up the "change password" like in the log on screen.
