Solved CD-ROM problem!

Hi! My girlfriend uses Windows Xp. I hope it's not a problem if i bring up WinXp discussions on a forum dedicated to vista! But...i recently installed on her computer ashampoo 2010 and...when i try to burn a cd or a dvd it appears this error: " No compatible cd recorder found". My guess is that it don't recognize the driver of cd-rom...but I don't know why...because i looked into device manager and it seems to work perfectly. If anyone have an idea..! Thanks!

He you tried putting it into your system? This might be a hardware issue.

WHich ashampoo did you install as 2010 only shows a "Office" program.

It is as i said...Ashampoo.Burning.Studio.10.v10.0.7 this version. But the problem it`s not ashampoo...because it doesn't work in nero 7 neither. It doesn't appear the driver...in nero..only Image Recorder...and after that asks me where to save the image. And i don't know if it`s a hardware problem...it worked before. And i don't know how to put it in the system too:d

It's quite easy to do if they are the same connectors. Unscrew unplug and switch.

I'd open the cases and look to see if they match.

Image recorder doesn't use the dvd drive, hence why it works.

I think its your drive, but until you can test it, i can't say for sure.

Can you scan the computer with CKScanner:

Please download CKScanner from here to your Desktop.

Make sure that CKScanner.exe is on the your Desktop before running the application!

Double-click on CKScanner.exe and click Search For Files.
After a very short time, when the cursor hourglass disappears, click Save List To File.
A message box will verify the file saved
Double-click on the CKFiles.txt icon on your Desktop and copy/paste the contents in your next reply.

----- EOF ----- " look..this thing appeared from Ckscanner! Tell if there`s a problem please...but if not..i think i might know what the problem could be. and that is that her cd-rom only reads cds and dvds...not burn them too.!

Do you know the model of the disk drive?

JLMS DVD-ROM LTD-166S. This is it.

Aah, there lies the problem then! You were correct, that drive can only read DVD/CDs

Y'all did read that this is a new evelopment and it use to work just fine with Nero, now nothing works.

So it does, I must have missed that. Thanks for picking up on that

1. Open the start menu
2. In the search box, type Device Manager
3. Click on it
4. Expand the DVD/CD-ROM Drives category
5. Right click on the JLMS DVD-ROM LTD-166S and select Uninstall
6. Reboot
