Hi louayworld,

Although not specifically designed for what you want, the following tutorial steps you through the process of setting up a new ICMP rule. If using classic Control Panel, just click on Administrative Tools. You'll have to make the appropriate changes where required as I'm not sure exactly what you need - but I think this may help you get there (it's a bit different than the above tutorial as it doesn't depend on an existing rule but one you are creating, so I don't think you'll have the enabling problem as creating the rule should enable it - I think). how_to_enable_icmp_echo_requests_ping_in_windows_vista [ISG D-PHYS README Wiki].

For more general information on these firewall settings, see: http://www.vistahunt.com/windows-vista-two-way-firewall.html.

I hope this helps.

Good luck!

Hi,

What software are you referring to?
What hardware do you have?

Why don't you just set a static IP address for your computer in your router & referrence that?

Hi,

Have you downloaded the NO-IP software - DUC 3.0?

Download a Free Dynamic DNS Update client for your dynamic IP

This will keep the redirect to your PC for any IP address when you have set the details in the software you have shown.

You will need to keep refreshing it each time you connect though.

Re: can't see Logging and ICMP Setting on Windows Firewall Settings/ Advanced, Help P

Hi louayworld,

Not a problem. I believe the issue is that this is a mobile broadband modem Mobi, FAQ > General and doesn't actually connect to a router over which you have control or that is at your location - which may be why you can't find the router.

If you want to use ICMP, then I believe the first article I posted can do it - it's just a lot harder than it was in XP because it offers more options and therefore you need to know more about it and it isn't as simple as pushing buttons checking boxes.

If that doesn't work (or you're having too much trouble with it), it is likely that you need to setup the static IP address for the PC through Vista rather than through the router (which I suspect doesn't exist). I'm not certain this is possible with your ISP if it only offers dynamic IP addresses, so you may need to check with them to see if you're permitted to setup a static one and what IP to use. Here's how to setup a static IP address in Vista: How to Assign a Static IP Address in XP, Vista, or Windows 7 - How-To Geek. This should work as long as you have all the settings required to setup the connection (and is permitted by the ISP).

I hope this helps.

Good luck!

P.S. Assuming you can't figure out the ICMP configuration settings in the link I posted above, I recommend you try Lottie's suggestion first as it seems more likely to work in your situation. If that doesn't work, then try this one (or possibly we can walk you step-by-step through the ICMP configuration process if all else fails to see if that does the trick).

Re: can't see Logging and ICMP Setting on Windows Firewall Settings/ Advanced, Help P

Hi Again ...
First sorry for wasting ur time (both of you)
Yes. i have downloaded the NO-IP software. and im using the old version coz the new version dosen't work with me, but the problem with NO-IP "old version", for example : if i have program uploaded on "X" site, so when i download the program and run it on my Laptop i got downloading report form the NO-IP, but if someone else download the program and run it on his PC, i dont get the report, thats why im asking about static IP.
NOTE : NO-IP "new version", i dont get report even if i download and run the program on my PC.

so if i can't setup the "NO-IP account" as my static IP for the program "using ICMP on vista" as i showed in the pix (posted before), is there is anyway to fill my IP & subnet mask etc. in the (TCP/IPv4) ? if yes, than what should i fill ? which IP ? and which Default gateway ? (i have uploaded a pic shown my ipconfig /all)
and should i unmark the (TCP/IPv6) from the Local Area Connection/Properties/Network or keep the mark ? im trying to make it step by step ...
Happy to find a wonderful site and helpful great supports helping newbie in professional way for free ... sorry again if im bothering, thanks

Hi,

My turn to be confused now!

Why can't you setup the NO-IP account address details?

The detail is as set in the account on the NO-IP website. (myaccount.NO-IP.BIZ & passwords)

All the static stuff comes from the link to the web & your DUC software.

Once that links to the web at NO-IP, your good to go!

My details removed!

Hi,

Try it with the two (Main & IBurst card) connections bridged in "Network and sharing" control panel, connections screens. Then set it to use the iburst as you want to.

Hi,

OK, select the two cards as in the picture, but for your network cards & create a bridge. Then set-up your DUC software to the iburst IP address as you have shown.

Hi,

Sorry, me being dumb again: -

What are all the connections? If thats all you do.

Your bridging issue is reported as a sharing one, when you try to bridge two connections! So I am lost here!

Please post a picture of your network sharing "View Full Map" with an explanation of the hidden devices (including there purpose).

As a final request, please post a "ipconfig /all" screen dump for all connections in DOS prompt
