Can't Open control panel

i cant open Network and Sharing Center either. when i open it i get this message, "Windows Explorer has stopped working. " then that message changes to "Windows Explorer is restarting." help please !!!

Try opening Command Prompt (Run as Admin) and type:

sfc /scannow

thanks lordbob. but unfortunatley, it did not work. at the end of the scan, i got a message in my cmd that said Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

Alright, I suspected as much. Shut down the computer, and boot into your Vista Install Disk. Instead of choosing Install, select Repair Your Computer.

Find your installation, and try a repair install.

it says on it frop top to bottom

and it also says use this disc to reinstall your operating system

then it gives me another note it says
WARNING: This process erases all data and files from the hard drive.




is this the correct disc?

if i just copy every .cpl file on my friends vista computer, and put it on a flash drive, and replace my .cpl files with it. will the problem be fixed?

I don't know the .cpl extension.

Just do a clean install right over your old one. Don't format the HDD. Your old files will be placed within Windows.old. You can restore those to your new install if you wish.

Navigate to c:\windows\explorer.exe right click, go to properties click on previous versions tab. Restore the verson when u had no problem...

I Wanna ask u one more thing, Are u using any personnel firewall softwares? and network managing softwares ?

Check you can open Control Panel in safe mode -if it is possible try these:
-I know situation responsible for this kind of things are some drivers for printers uninstall drivers for printer
-Try reinstall Windows Search Description of Windows Search 4.0 and the Multilingual User Interface Pack for Windows Search 4.0
I heard also this kind of trouble due to this service

If still nothing help there is in the system event viewer and Problem Reports and solutions -you have to read error messages which relate to explorer.exe

how can i get my system event viewer, and get problem reports and solutions?

also i download the thing you told me to download. when i try to open it. it bring open an updater, then after a minute its searching for something, i think its looking for a new update, then after a minute it says it does not apply to my system

i have 2 explorer.exe.mui's
and i have one EXPLORER.EXE-A80E4F97.pf

when i right click and go to properties on the 9 explorer.exe's, i have 4 tabs.
general, compatibility, security, and details. No previous version tab

Control Panel>>Problem Reports and Solution ->(of course if you can open Control Panel in safe mode )

You can't have two antiviruses installed it may cause many problems -for example like by you -you have to uninstall one of them
