Call of Duty 4 Freezes and pixels go strange

First off you should update the components used for gaming, so download and install the following:

1- Make sure you download and install the latest software from here: NVIDIA Graphics
2- Install these updates:

DirectX (You need this whether you running DirectX 9, 10 or 10.1)
C ++ for Vista 32 bit

Once you've installed the above reboot your pc. Once your back at the desktop download this: Utilities.zip It contains three shortcuts, when you run the defrag shortcuts it open a cmd window. That window will close by itself when it is finished so be patient. Once the last shortcut has completed reboot your pc again and then try playing your game.

Oops, just saw your post.

I don't see disk defragmenter fixing this. I'll try anyway.

Okay guys, I have a possible fix!

I've went into task manager > processes > iw3mp.exe > set affinity

Uncheck all except CPU0, make sure there is a tick there.

I was playing for over an hour without a freeze. It's not guarenteed YET, but it looks promising.

Thanks for the help guys.

For everyone having the same issue,
Good luck, people.

that's exactly the symptoms i had 3 days before my 8800 gts died, i fear that your graphic card might be failing, especially if you didn't have this problem before, of course it could be other things.

Actually I had that same problem with CoD4 W@W and MW2. It was because I was overclocking. Turn your overclock off and it will work just fine.
