bsod can't get cpu to boot please help

sigh I don't know what is going on with my pc, it randomly restarted while I was attempting to check my email and upon said restart I got my first bsod. Now it always goes to bsod when I try to boot it. I made it into safe mode, but it was acting like the cpu was really taxed and after about a minute I got the blue screen. Now it won't even make it into safe mode, it gets hung up and the last thing it says is loaded: \windows\system32\drivers\crcdisk.sys

The bsod I am getting says,

ci.dll
page fault in nonpaged area

stop: 0x00000050
ci.dll - address

collecting data for crash dump...

sorry for the trouble, any help is much appreciated.
oh and I'm running vista ultimate x64
my mb is a gigabyte ga-ep45-ud3p
I have a sapphire ati radeon 4870 and 2 sticks of ocz reaper ram (2 gigs each)

edit: just wanted to clear it up a bit, the cpu just freezes and eventually restarts when I try to boot into safe mode, and I get the blue screen if I try to boot it normally.

i actually did skim through that befoer I posted. But it appeared to me that I needed to be able to get into windows to get the dump file? I'll reread and try to figure it out.

Can you get in with Safe Mode?
You do have to access the data from the computer.

Are you certain that all the BSOD's were code 50?

These are the possible causes of a BC 50
Usual causes: Defective hardware (particularly memory - but not just RAM), Faulty system service, Antivirus, Device driver, NTFS corruption, BIOS

May I suggest, that since CI.dll, also is noted, it mabe that the .dll is corrupt or missing. This is what must be done.

If you have a Vista DVD, you can make a repair install.
If that does not work or you do not have a Cd
You must test
Memory, Hard drive and BIOS.
To do so, you may be able to boot from Ubuntu.
How To Back Up Data From Computer That Won’t Boot
If you can get Ubuntu to work, we know it is not a hardware related problem.
If you cannot get it to work, it sounds like hardware. Nothing that I can do to check the components, if you cant even boot.

thanks for the advice. I've put uduntu onto a usb stick and booted from it. I got to the screen where it asks me if I want to install or a few other options then my cpu went haywire and ran a bunch of text like in dos mode. It finally stopped and I could type, but nothing was happening so I restarted and now I'm getting a main bios checksum error. This is going from bad to worse lol

edit: I've tried removing each stick of ram and swapping their slots but no luck there so I'm assuming they aren't at fault? I googled and found some people saying it might be the motherboards battery? I've had this system for I guess about two years now.

Sounds more and more like a hardware issue.

Yeah, I figured it was a hardware issue when I couldn't get it to boot. I mean I didn't update any drivers or download any programs, my cpu just restarted out of nowhere and then started crashing. I don't have any idea how to figure out what the culprit is though. I can still get into the bios. What do you think my next step should be?

No onboard video eh? Saddly unless you can get ahold of a second machine, and alot of time, we're shooting in the dark.

Though, i'd try unplugging everything i could... leave just the keyboard, and monitor. No drives, no dvds and see if it boots.

Then idf it does something, I'd try the usb ubuntu... and then if yes keep adding parts.

Oh also 1 stick ram.

man this is driving me nuts. I cleared my cmos and flashed my bios. That got rid of the checksum error I was having. Now I'm back to bsod upon an attempted regular boot, and hanging up at crc.disk on a safe mode attempt. I'm about to try ubuntu again and see how that goes.

edit: got ubuntu to its first screen and ran memtest with both sticks of ram in, pass complete no errors.

but I can't get ubuntu to run from the usb or by installing it to the hard drive. I'm thinking it's a hardware issue, and hoping that its my mb's battery that needs replacing.

okay, I'm trying no hard drive. Looks like the same result, it gets to the screen with ubuntu and the 5 dots underneath and stays there for a long time, then it goes haywire with tons of text scrolling.

Any way you can try out your parts in a second system?

only if I can talk someone into letting me. Just plug my ram, hard drive and video card into a different mobo and see if it works?
