oh ok.. So our sayin I should Use Acronis True Image Home and get an Image of the OS.. and then just drag all the other stuff over manually so I can take things as I want.. awesome. thats what I'll do I guess.
How easy is it to take a image of the OS.. or does that program do that for me.?
Firewire 400 or USB2.0 for my External Hard Drive..??
What does everyone think. I've read that Firewire is faster at a Stable rate than USB.. USB2.0 is fast but it's not always at that speed, and Firewire is.
Anyone Clear this up, as for now I'm going to use the FW400 wire
Edit* So I got acronis true image 11 and I was giving it a try and I was making an image of my Entire C drive with a Compression ratio of about 40% and the entire backup was around 9% complete and my entire computer Froze.. pretty lame. maybe I shoulda NOT been on the forums posting when it was doing such a Big job. I'll leave it alone and set Priority to High tomorro before work and hope it finishes.
I'm not familiar with Nero 7... couldn't tell ya one way or the other. Not sure why you froze... Acronis v.11 works with 64-bit Vista. One thing I would note though, and that is to check if the image is corrupted. Apparently this happens a lot. What happened is that it did not create an image. Again, I don't know squat about Nero 7, but even if it successfully says an image is created, you'd be well advised to double check. The last thing you want is to find out the image is corrupted when you need it most: when having to re-load the OS and are unable to because of a corrupted image.
I'm sure if Nero ghosts an image it has some way to verify that image. Just don't forget that step.
