Auslogics Registry Defrag

I have been using CCleaner for years, and all of my systems that use it have no issue whatsoever and run as well as they did when they were created.
I've had the same experience with CCleaner....

I am already using A.R.D. It improved performance of my registry by 20% the first time. Ever since then, it hasn't really done much. Probably because I am not constantly removing and adding programs.

Hello JaxMacFL,

You hit the nail on the head.

Me personally, like sidewinder, I believe one needs to defrag the registry every once in awhile. According to how much you install and uninstall software. I defrag mine about once a month with ARD and have noticed no problems while reducing the registry's footprint by 10% - 20%. Then again I am constantly updating video drivers, trying new software and installing/uninstalling games and apps. What the originator of this thread, Ted, is advising is that ARD might cause some users problems after they install sp1. Problems that could might possible cause the user to have reinstall vista. Just a heads up. Remember windows has always been a finicky os to say the least. It can bsod for no apparent reason at all. Just onerousness. To answer your question John, yes I believe it is necessay and I would keep on using it unless you suspect ARD is causing os problems.

I too have been using both CCleaner and ARD since I found this forum.
I had no problems with ARD until SP1. Even after the reinstalls I could use ARD
until I Installed SP1. Like I said earlier if I can't use it on this machine I'll just
move on. I have tried it both ways, SR Points enabled and not. I have even
adjusted the allotted space for SRP from 40GB to 5GB and all the way in between.
Tried with from 1 to 20 SR Points saved. All the same! CRASH

I am well aware that I don't own threads. All I was trying to say is show a little courtesy to others.
If you have a beef with someone else take it somewhere else,
not in the middle of where someone is trying to get some information to figure out
a problem they are having. I did say please twice!

Thanks to all of you !!!

Hello johnwillyums,

Hi. You've got me worried. I've been using Auslogic Disk Defrag and BoostSpeed for 6 months. So, before and after SP1.
I have had to do a system restore during that time (pre SP1) and it worked fine.
Are you telling me it's not necessary? I must be imagining the improved speeds etc.
Yours, John

My problem is not with Auslogic Disk Defrag and BoostSpeed But with
Auslogics Registry Defrag. -> Defragment and Compact the Registry to Speed Up Your Computer
Two separate programs!

I hope this helps you.

I'm sorry Bare Foot Kid I should make a breif response.

I have read and heard that the Vista registry does not require cleaning. I read it at tech-net and I think I saw a tread here. I wasnt degradeing any of the discussed products or people involved. I used the same programs myself. I though I notice an increase in performance when using them(both ARC and ARD). I did'nt include them in my last rebuild about 3 months ago. My system screams. If they work for you great. After reading the comments here I was thinking of trying them again. I have never heard any reports of ARC or ARD frying any systems.

Good luck.

Hello joel406,

Thank you for your response.
I will look it to ARC.

As to the earlier difficulties I just want to put it all behind us and move on.
The ONLY point is to publically treat each other with respect.

Thank you!

Hey B F K...have you seen any 64 bit Auslogics stuff. I prefer to try and stay native.

To be honest, I didn't install ARD until after I already had SP1. It could be that the change corrupted the program and then you tried to run it and caused your registry to error and crash Vista.

Hello,

Valid point guys. The only thing is I'm sure there are tooooo many that have
been using it way before SP1.
It is something to consider as I am planning to do another install in a week or two.
I just want to move some stuff elsewhere first.

Thank you for the ongoing consideration.

Hello to all that have been following this, especially to those that have helped.
Thank You!

Just a few last thought (for a while) as I am not thru with ARD "yet".
As I have said I am planning to do another install. Practice makes perfect. hehe
I am such a tinkerer I will probably be doing reinstalls the rest of my life.
Like I saw Bubba say, "I like to play around with it, to see what I can break".
I will install it pre SP1 on the new install as I do believe it is a good product.
It just seems to not like "my" machine post SP1. I need something to clean up
the mess left behind after I uninstall all the bloatware HP has so kindly loaded me with.
CCleaner and ARD together with a couple of HDD defrags seems to tidy things up nicely.
Then I'll reload SP1 and all its pals (I couldn't believe it) I had to let it install an update
so it could check for updates; no matter what I did it only said it could not check for
updates until it updated its self. I got a big kick out of that.

Well I'm getting to long winded.
Like I said I'm not done with ARD by a long shot.
Again, thank you all.
