Attempting to Authenticate

I have a Toshiba Statellite, i have recently changed service providers my toshiba connected fine to my previous router, but since i have changed it is not letting me onto the internet, it has the router but just says attempting to authenticate.
Other laptops can connect no problem. THe code etc is all correct.
Any help please driving me crazy it is Vista basic

try adding the network manually to your laptop

click on start>>control panel>>network and sharing center>>manage wireless setting>>click on add button>>select create network profile>>enter the information needed>>click on next. check if will automatically connect if not try to connect to the desired network.

Ok with that method i have managed to connect but it is just saying local connection! The wireless monitors are showing but no globe.

that means it still not connecting, there is a possibility that this may be a compatibility problem w/ the router and this laptop what type of wireless security encryption that you have on the router?

it is on wpa at the moment but i tried it on wep also same thing came up thanks
