Having an issue trying to discover what is preventing internet browsers from bringing up webpages - tried chrome / ie / safari on vista home premium. thought it was the connection, however i can make calls on skype. error page on browser only says that internet connectivity is lost - how can this be if skype is working at the same time?

Are you currently on the machine with the proposed issue? If its still connected and running, please type this into the command prompt [start search > cmd > enter]

I'm on a laptop connected wirelessly to the router, next to the computer having issues (the computer having issues is connected via LAN cable to the router)

Instead of netsh wlan show interface try:
netsh lan show interface
Also, is the machine with issues set to auto find an IP or is set?
start search > ncpa.cpl > hit enter > right click the wired connection > choose properties > accept the UAC > then go down and un-check IPv6 as almost nothing uses it yet and can cause problems > then highlight IPv4 choose properties > is it set to Obtain IP automatically? or is one set?

No.. How could they charge extra for a user setting? Its the DHCP setting on my wireless access point. So I dont see how they could charge more over a setting. But idk, I could be wrong.
