Solved Adding a Range extender

Hey guys,

I know I have posted before about this but my Connection has gotton worse and I would like to add a Range extender Wirelessly If I can't then the last resort is to use an Ethernet Cable

Please Help me as to what IP Address I need and as to How I make a connection between the 2 Routers

Any help would be appreciated

Hi,

I have tried this configuration, when I had a router without wireless & one with but no modem connected via a wired connection.

Set the gateway of the second router (Wireless & no modem in my case) to the IP address of the first router & leave the first one alone.

When you log-on wirelessly use the second router as your gateway & it will redirect correctly.

If you connect via a wire you still need to route in the same way i.e Connect to the second router & all will be well, otherwise you will need to change the gateway of your static IP addressing, if used.

I am not sure if there is an easier way of doing this but it worked for me!


I now have a range extender (connected via a wire to a new first router (second one removed & binned) as I updated the first router & that was easier to set up! All now on standard settings. :D
