A Disk Read Error has occured.. HHEEELP pls

hi everyone, can anybody pls tell about what i can do to fix this error

i've read that this kind of error occurs when the hard drive is faulty or dying or whatever other reason, but mine is just at least 3 months old

actually everything started while i was trying to resize a partition with paragon partition manager 9.... after doing that my laptop froze and after i rebooted it i got the "

interrupted operation insert the recovery cd or other recovery media and reboot your pc" error, after scouring the net for possible solutions, i found almost none that were effective, or at least none that i could really understand enough to do by myself... then after reading about using their recovery disk to fix the MBR.... which i did.... my next problem became this "disk read error"

i wanna use the system recovery disks i have but if possible i wanted to save my data

forgive me coz i reeaaaally don't know what to do, let alone explaining vivdly my predicament

i'm reaaalllyy not very much of a techy i'm a noob pls help


will these help? or do i need to mention more studd about my laptop?

Agreed that the HD should not fail after a few months. But some products are defective from the day of manufacture, that is why there are warranties.

Try going to the website of the mfg. Most have a method to test the HD.

If you have a problem finding the test, maybe I or another member can help.

If at all possible I agree, try and save your data.

Can you get to the hard drive manufacturer website? If yes, go and take the hard drive test.

hi, i downloaded the disk fitness test utility or the hd test from the manufacturer of my hd and well.... it would freeze when the process would get to "loading DFT"... so i never got the chance to use it

i downloaded a vista recovery disk btw... i tried some options like the bootrec/fixmbr, bootrec/scanos, bootrec/rebuildbcd which i found were some of the solutions regarding this issue.... but on my part - to no avail

i tried the "repair your computer" option... but it doesn't detect any os

I don't see any proof that your disk is faulty other than your interpretation of what you saw. Any chance that we get to see some screenshots of the errors?

Can you access the drive through another system?

To get a quick and dirty test of your HDDs technical status, get any tool that can display the HDDs SMART-status. Most Bios-versions also display it during boot, although only in a very minimalistic manner.

You can get Spinrite. It's a self-bootable tool to recover and check hard disks. It's very powerful, but there is no trial available.

So far it looks to me that your endeavours with Paragon screwed up your hard drives boot sectors and or partition table. If that is the case, then I'd suggest using other partition tools to re-partition the drive and to get rid of the error. If nothing helps, you can try to repartition the drive within the Windows setup. That would destroy your data though.

If you need external access to that drive from this very computer to backup your data, then get a bootable Windows such as BartPE, ERD or any live Linux release.

Anyway, I suggest providing more informations, because this is nothing more than guess work.
