Hi MrNeeds, A quick internet search suggests you are wrong about the Dell being "a fraction of the price" (Dell $689 and Benq $699)and that your implied suggestion that the Benq is inferior to the Dell is not accurate. Both monitors are good average Desktop monitors with good and bad points. The Dell "DVI input shows noticeable lag. It's not horrible for desktop work, but for gaming it is simply too much. If you game at all on this monitor, use the HDMI input with some type of adapter, either HDMI-DVI cable or a DVI-HDMI adapter, or if your vcard has HDMI output."
BenQ has a good reputation for affordable quality monitors.
The biggest difference is in after sales service. Benq offers point of sales after service. Dell has a centralized call service system with limited access to technical help and advice. This difference would clinch it for me. Repairs for Benq are quicker, easier to obtain and there is a person with whom you can interact to resolve problems.
As a footnote, I own a Samsung.
