If that's the correct machine then you have 4 sata ports, with at least two free sata ports if the HD and DVD drive are both Sata.

SATA is a connector, not any specific device. A SATA port is most commonly used to connect a HDD to a mobo, but is also appearing as a DVD drive connector to the mobo.

You can put in any card you want that will fit the slot. If it needs an external power connector, just plug in one from the PSU. You should have the needed one if the PSU is not too old, and the card is not too new. If you want a good one with no extra power plug, then get either a 7 series, or something off like an 8500 or 9500.
