10 second freezes

Thanks to be honest I was looking in the case today and saw tht it was quite dusty. I have 3 cats so it was also full of fur. My CPU temp is fine (checked with Core Temp , but I don't know how to check the GPU or even what a normal GPU temp is. I'll have to get a can of compressed air.

Annoying thing is I'm out of work right now and trying to update my portfolio to get new work, this issue isn't helping matters. Kind of a catch 22. Need work to buy PC updates, need PC updates to find work.

Here, is a couple of things you can try for low cost. :) You can remove the gpu to eliminate the possibility of that it is the problem source. Try to disconnect all none necessary hardware. Next, get an aftermarket SATA cable for a few bucks to replace the one connected to the boot HDD with all others disconnect.

Good luck and let us know what happen.

If I remove the GPU what does the monitor connect to?

Yeah, I disabled Readyboost a while back and nothing changed.

Thanks Bruce, I didn't realize what that connector was for. A couple of adapters came with my monitor (mine was the display model from the local Comp USA that closed down) I'll have to see if one fits that, otherwise I can't afford to buy one right now.

also try disabling Computer Browser service. . . that is one of the killers for me, and I don't know that its necessary for a stand alone computer in a wireless home. . .

Well I don't know what I did but I haven't had any freezes for a couple of days now. I don't want to jinx it and say it's fixed so I'll just leave it at that.
