Auslogics Defrag

I dont believe in using a defrag too often, as I am of the school that over use will cause more harm than good.
That being said, upon seeing many recommendations by a respected MVP and member of Seven forums, I downloaded and tried Auslogics Defrag. Very simply it was excellent. Time needed is much less than that needed for the native Vista defrag and it gives you the extra option of being able to move System Files to a position on the drive that will speed thing up. I have not used the System File feature yet as I wanted to get a feeling for the defrag before getting fancy. My next defrag, which will be in about 3 months, will allow me to use this new feature.

EDIT: Since using Auslogics, I seem to be booting just a half a tad quicker.

I prefer that as well - Feel that Vista Defrag isn't really doing what it is supposed to do...

I have used Auslogics as my defragmenter for ages, and love it. It moves my system files, and does its "Optimisation"! Great tool!

Thanks for the post Rich :) Its rare to find an optimization program that does more good than harm, but this seems to be great :)

I totally recommend it too! I don't use Registry Cleaners or Revo, but I am very happy with this!

A Lot of people forget to turn off the windows version in task manager.

    Weakest part of my computer is the graphics chipset. Only ever used a laptop. Also use USB Freeview TV Card Lenovo Docking Station External Speakers Other bits a pieces as needed
Is it harmful not to have turned off the windows version in task manager? Because it never occured to me that I should.

I think you mean task scheduler. If you are using another defrag software, you should turn off the schedule to defrag, with the Vista defrag. It is not good too defrag too often.
If you do not defrag manually, then you can leave the schedule on the default schedule. I howver, turned mine off before my new defrag, because I like to defrag only when necessary and not on schedule.

I must have turned it off on April 14th 2010 as the box claims as part of BRINK's tutorial on how to speed up PC . That was even before I started auslogic defrag.

I have it still ready for manual defrag.

Know what I think, I think you should use your new Defrag and make a defrag now. You have not done it for a while.

Oh no...I am a defrag nuts. I defrag at the drop of a hat...with auslogic defrag. The April 14, 2010 date was the last time I had scheuled disc defrag done with Windows default application. Shortly after, I discovered Auslogic defrag...also through BRINK's recommendtion.

BTW, where is he? Where has the legendary BRINK gone? Has he abandoned Vista Forum?

Yes sorry, that is what I was talking about, Task Scheduler not Task Manager. Two programs will conflict about what is fragmented or not.

Dont be so ready to do defrags. Continuous constant use may wear out the hard drive. Defag if you install and uninstall a lot. You should also defrag if the frag is 10% or more.
