Video Editing Software

I'm after a video editing software instead of windows movie maker, which i dont like, that can cut up videos etc. Free ones would be preferable but suggestions for any good paid for one is welcome.

Anybody got any ideas?

I use Ulead Video Studio 11.5+. I'm still just learning what all it can do, but it seems pretty feature rich. You can check it out here: Video Editing - Ulead VideoStudio 11.5 Plus - Corel Corporation

Whoa $110 is a lot. I'll give it a try but i think its outta my price range.

Yea, but I have friends that want me to help them do some vids for their business and I don't like doing a so so job if I can help it. They'll at least pay for the software and a bit more. Tried windows and one that came with the computer for burning dvd and blue ray discs (Roxio). Just didn't do it for me. Guess it all depends on how much control you want over things. Good luck in your search.

I've found that Pinnacle Studio 11 is pretty good. The only problem I've found is that it will only install and run with UAC switched off.

Sorry, I can't remember how much I paid but I think about £45.

I am interested in any native 64 video editing systems. I saw that Sony Vegas was going to have one but that has been a year or even two ago. Does anyone know about this?

I use Ulead Video Studio 11.5+ and have been using it for a while. Version 12 is coming out soon.

I really enjoy using VS11.5+ and runs well in my Vista 64 bit. Though I had to iron out a couple of little problems.

For a program that can capture, edit and author a DVD the price is pretty cheap for a consumer level video editor.

Among free software there is 32/64bit Virtualdub,
and famous still 32bit ( some x64 builds too ) Avisynth ( Video frameserver with very powerful script language and dozens of mighty plugins.

AND!

Final Cut Pro runs on a mac is just as expensive but there are truely very powerful editors...but for me Video Studio is powerful enough for what I like to do

I have tried Video Studio 11 on Windows Vista 64-bit and the DV video capture will not work. I also tried (and purchased) DVD MovieFactory 6+ and it would not capture video. However, both products work fine on Windows XP 32-bit. Have you been able to capture video from a DV camcorder on Vista x64?

I have 11.5 plus and have a problem with the capture freezing every time. What kind of work arounds did you have to do? I am using Vista 64 bit as well.

Yes... since upgrading. I can run capture and burn from VS11.5+ on Vista 64 bit.

There are patches for the purchased version if you are trying out the TBYB.

Perhaps I can help with any specific problems

I capture from a Panasonic NV-GS180- Dv-AVI files

V12 is already out in Japan and has been for a couple of months now so I guess when the Japanese users are finished beta testing it for us it will come out...
