I have a problem,

My new and only 8400GS has stopped working on my p5ld2 mobo. I had a faulty memory stopping it from working and i replaced that... But the mobo now does'nt go into post. All i get is a "signal input out of range" AND the keyboard does not flash like normal on boot. Everything else is fine.

I TAKE THE CARD OUT. And i get the flashed on the keyboard but unfortunatly there are NO intergrated graphics so i cant see if it boots..


I will give rep to anyone who helps.

REMEMBER-
I cant get past POST OR BIOS.
NO intergrated graphics

EDIT: I tried a n6200 andit works??? I have the 8400GS in another machine but in the p5ld2 it does not work. I dont want a heatsink card again.

Lets go through the facts here.
Removed faulty memory then the graphics card will not work on the machine. Was the faulty memory checked on another machine?
The graphics card that will not work on your mobo works on another mobo.
This may sound strange but have you tried putting the psu from the working computer into yours?

Hi there,

yes the windows sound does play,


i swapped the mobos and put the card, memory in the swapped one and the mem does not work, I bought another stick and it does work.

The card also works in the swapped mobo... I like playing battlefield 2 on 1GB ram at high settings on a 478 board! (sarcasm)!!!


i was on google and saw something about the BIOS being the problem???

When I boot my computer, I dont get the Windows sound until the very end. Id say you are booting.

Can you check the mobo out with a dealer?
This is a simple case of diag, what part is fried. I do not think it is a software or bios problem because the computer was in a working state before this all happened.

I dont think it has fried... i think i do have intergrated graphics but theres a yellow circle for input. Is it for a tv. I could try for that?

I am not going to give you the answers for this as you have a good working knowledge, judgeing by your post.
Here is what I would do in your situation, Use the Mobo and psu,cpu and ram from the orig computer. Probably best to strip it out of the case. See if this works with the working GPU (access the bios to see if it works), if this works try with the other graphics card. This is all diagnostics to find the problem. Do not have the HD connected to the system.

if the orginal is the p5ld2 then no not with the 8400GS. but again, it does with the n6200. THE THING IS:

the 8400GS worked on the p5ld2 before... the mobo works with the n6200 and, the 8400gs works with spare mobo...

Sorry but i need this done fast as I need the 4GB of ram for video editing and stuff for school, I can only use 1GB on my replacement 478 and i can hardly do anything.

Sorry but I know nothing about graphics cards as my computer only has a chipset.
Did you try any of what Roy69 said to try?

You have no onboard.

Frankly I don't know how you can boot without a video card... I didn't think it was possible actually.

Have you tried clearing the cmos? Use the little jumpers on the mobo board... It resets the bios to stupid again so it can relearn your stuff.
