DirectX Problem - About to give up

I'm having an issue with FFXI currently. I have been playing on this PC for the last year or so, and everything has been great up until a couple of weeks ago. I recently downloaded the FFXIV benchmark, and it asked me to install DX11. I did this, and apparently, I shouldn't have. Instead of playing at 30 FPS, I'm playing at ~5 FPS now. How can I fix this?

According to dxdiag, this is what I have:

• Vista Home Premium (6.0, build 6002)
• AMD Phenom 9550(quad), ~2.2GHz
• ~6 GB RAM
• DirectX 11

According to NVIDIA control panel I have:

• Vista Home Premium, 64 bit(service pack 2)
• GeForce 9100
• DirectX 10
• dedicated video memory: 256 MB

So, I have a couple of questions:

• I have DX11 installed, which I heard from a friend isn't supported by my 9100 video card. Is this true?
• Why would my video card be telling me it's running DX10?
• How can I uninstall DX11 if it, in fact, my problem?

I have tried various uninstallers for DX, but they do not seem to support DX11. I have tried to overwrite DX11 with an older version(using both links in the DX thread on this forum). I have tried multiple system restores to various points prior to my installation of DX11. None of this has worked.

Is there anything I can do short of purchasing a new video card?

Of course, you could just install directx runtime again, this should fix the problem easily

I've done what you suggested. When I run dxdiag again, it still says DX11 is installed on my computer. Also, my FPS issue still persists. Is there anything else you would recommend?

Usually with this kind of problem, I would suggest updating your graphics drivers, this usually fixes the problem, if the problem still persists after updating then I can only suggest a system restore to when you installed the benchmark software

if there is a setting within the game in the options then you should be able to switch it back to DX10 or 9 or whatever you want....so you should look for that within the game
