Hi,
I bought my pc a few years ago.
During the time I've had the pc, the motherboard has broke several times.
I've got my pc fixed through warranty, except this last time it broke, as I had installed a new videocard and power output.
SO, I had to go buy a new one. The one in my pc would have cost me about 250 to 300 euros to get, and I had no chance of finding one in a shop anywhere, it had to be sent somewhere, and I wasn't ready to pay for that crap also. It's maybe worth 50 euros and most likely less, and with it's constant repairing needs it's even much less than that, so I decided not to waste huge amounts of money and I bought a MB which could hold all the stuff I had previously bought as upgrades to my pc, and it's price was 49 euros. So I saved a lot of money.
Or so I thought.
After about a month after buying and installing this new motherboard, I got a message on the lower corner of the screen saying "0 days until reactivation", or something similar. No prior warning.
Instantly I guessed what this was about, and I just couldn't believe it.
I tried writing down the register ke y on the tag I have in my computer, but I knew it was to no prevail.
After buying a new motherboard for to fix the constant breaking down of the old one, it is required of me to buy a completely new vista..
I would understand of having to reinstall another version of it, but having a working register key or something.. But no, a brand new, expensive vista.
I have always been very lenient with microsoft and it's problems. I have understood why you have to buy a windows for all your pc's at home, I get that to smoe extent adn have no problems with it.
The necessity of windows, I get that, it's good business and marketing, you make more money, of course.
But this.. I have one single pc. I bought the pc with a vista, and I didn't know I had to worry about it being taken away from me. I thought there was no possibility for this to happen, but it has come to this, and it is unbelievable.
Why would anyone seriously expect me to buy a new windows for a pc I have already bougth windows for?
I know that the most I should have to do is get a new vista installation disk from somewhere, but my licence for vista should not be taken away because of impossibilities involving hardware on my pc. This is absolutely absurd.
If there is anything to be done to thwart this, I would very much apprechiate it, and be seriously grateful for any help. I don't want to hear excuses, as I'm angered as it is already, and don't need to hear why they charge me more money for something I already have, because I know why that ultimately is.
First would be to get this vista to work, as almost everything needs windows.
But if not, I've already downloaded linux, and heard only good things about, and will swap to that, eternally, and also only buy pc's and parts from here after that will not ever have heard of windows. Also I will make sure to be a beakon for linux, after I test it of course, and make sure all I can do is being done to make sure linux and other OS's will take even more market value from microsoft that they already have and are doing.
Thanks for any help, and I know this battle is not in my favour...
