desktop icons

hi there everyone,

i am back with another wee problem. everytime i open say, winamp , all of my desktop icons ripple down the screen with each one changing to blank white and back again its becoming quite distracting. i have googled but havent really found a difinitive answer, has my icon cache become corrupted and if so how do you rebuild it?
