You should be booting from the dvd not your OS. Is that where its booting from? to get it to boot from the dvd you may need to enable it in BIOS. also is the dvd internal or external?

I restart my computer and when it says press any key to boot from CD or DVD i do it then.

How would i enable the DVD? I am using a HP

thats correct. if it says press any key to boot from cd or dvd, just push a key and it should boot from the dvd

I suspect you have an external dvd, right?

the difference is the external USB dvd player needs drivers to be installed in order to work. an internal sata/ide dvd drive doesn't need drivers. you may be able to get drivers for your external dvd and when you try to boot from it and it asks for drivers you might be able to install them then.

If you have an internal dvd its better. if not, well we are goint to have to figure a way to do it

I think it is internal i really am not sure, but what do you suggest if it is internal to do to fix this error?

IB

if it is external it has a wire coming out of the back and is plugged into a usb port

if it is internal you put the dvd into the case.

is it a desktop or laptop?

it is internal then and yes its a desktop.

if it is internal it shouldn't need a driver. whata exactly is the error message when y ou boot?

Ok i do this:

Wait until it says press any key to boot CD or DVD then it says "Loading windows files"

then it boots and gives me the options of language etc. I press Next then click "Install now" then i get this message:

"A required CD/DVD drive device is missing. If you have a floppy disk, CD, DVD or USB flash drive, please insert it now.

Note: If windows installtion media is in the CD/DVD drive you can safely remove it for this step."

i click ok and then i get this:
"No device drivers were found. make sure that the installtion media contains the correct drivers, and then click OK."

it says model:

great. go to the web site in the edit. click on the link and put the model number in and it will take you to the driver. download it and burn it to a cd or dvd.
