What are the parameters for replacing Vista 64 bit with XP Pro on a "fairly new" laptop?
If I remember previous posts, a clean install is required.
Thanks,
Pete

Correct. A clean install will be required. Besides that, you need to make sure that you can obtain suitable drivers for the hardware. With certain models however, because they were designed for use with Vista, drivers for XP will not be available (at least from the manufacturers website).

As this is a new laptop, be sure to create the recovery disk(s) using the software provided (see manual for full instructions). That way, if the downgrade doesn't work for whatever reason, you can restore the original OS.

Not me.

Friend of a customer who (Like everyone else if you ask him) doesn't like Vista.

I've only done one "Reversal" and that was for an elderly gentleman who spent forever mastering the basics of XP before his PC crapped out. He at least tried Vista but it was a bit of a strain for him.

Thanks for the info.
I'll pass it along.

A friend of mine bought a Sony Vaio with Vista OS. She wanted to go back to XP, but no drivers were available, as mentioned by Dwarf.

Are you having problems with Vista? That's what this forum is for...

Not me.
I still have my framed Vista RC boxes.
As I posted in the beginning, one of my customer's asked me about it.
