Trying to start Cryptographic Services

I have been trying to install my HP Printer software, but the setup stops with
the message "Cryptographic Services must be started- Go to My Computer -Manage - Services to start this service. When I try to start the Cryptographic Service I get the Error 1079 - The account specified for this service is different from the account specified for other services runnning in the same process.
I have a Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 32bit system. 4GB RAM 500 GB HD and Quad core Processor. Is this a network service? I do not have a network.
Can anyone help me with starting this service, which I assume should be running
on my local computer (??) Thanks.

What do you get if you type this into a command prompt (CMD.EXE)?

The error message means that the user account which the crypto service is using to log on is not the same as the rest of the services which normally share its SVCHOST "container".

NetworkService, which is what I assume you're referring to, is actually a (hidden) user account, and that's what CryptoSvc should be using to log on by default. If the output of the command above suggests that CryptoSvc is attempting to use something else - that's the problem.

Can you tell how to make the accounts the same? so I do not get Error 1079?
I have noticed also I cannot run Windows Update to install updates, which
I believe needs Cryptographic Services. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Can you tell me how to make the accounts the same so I do not get the
1079 error? I have also noticed I cannot run/install any windows updates
since I believe it uses the Cryptographic Services. How did this service get
disabled or the accounts are different? I have only one user account and it
is an administrator account, which I can only use. Please help. Thanks.
