Solved partition and clean help

ok. i have 4 partions in my hard drive. But basiclly i screwed it up. i cant even use google sketch up 7.. and chrome. i want to reinstall.

i want my new pc to be like this

C drive. (my os) 30gb

D drive 7.67gb (it not my drive. it for recovery purposes. it hp lol

Z drive to install my programs 182.33gb

E drive (the bummer) my other os. chiness version. my mom hired someone to install it. i can access it from the boot menue. 80gb.

basiclly i want to reinstall ONLY my C drive. i havent screed up my E drive :geek:

i can do so. but im afraid of screwing it up E drive. my mom would be pissed.

that it. any ideas?

Hello Kiddieboy,

While doing a factory restore of your OEM Vista, you can select the C: drive partition to install Vista on without it messing up anything else.

i cant. wait let me add more info.

i have a d drive for recover purposes

i have to go to start-pc tools-recovery manager- and select system recovery

it will shut down and that as far as i got. i wanna be safe

who has a hp. and has done this before.?? plz. it getting messed up by the seconds

You should have no problem-
use the recovery partition to reinstall, It should show you a partitions window where you can choose where to install Vista; reformat the c: partition, and reinstall on it.

ok...also can i copy everything in my E drive (the chiness version)
and paste it in a dvd and then if i screw up and it reformat EVERY PARTION . i just make a new partion an then paste everything

Kiddieboy,

You can use the free program Drive Backup Express to create a backup image of you hard drive that can be used to restore it if needed.

can i compress with like somthing. im thinking rar or kgb compressor

I suggest an external drive to store the backup image of your entire drive- also you should be using Vista's File backup utility to create weekly backups. Too many cd/dvds, invest in an external usb drive. It will greatly simplify things.

also. what about registy keys?

my biggest usb drive is a 2gb one. im using it 4 ready boost. i gotta off ebay for less that 3 $ plus shipping

and external hd is out of question. i will probably get a art insitute one.

oh yea. and i have home premiure. can t use language pack

Not a thumb drive- a usb external drive, i.e., 320GB/250GB minimum size. Otherwise the image backup which is aprox 20GB+, not to mention the ever increasing Vista file backup (another 20GB+) will eat though 10+ DVD's just to initially create the backups.

I bought a new I/O magic external 320GB drive off ebay for less than $74. My wife bought a new WD external 250GB from Bestbuy for around $70

Hey brink. So if i use the driver back up. And back up my partion. If i screw, and it reformat everything. I can make a partion and then restore it. Rite?

Also, i can access my chiness one from the boot menue. It not dual boot. It is single boot. And cannot dual boot. If i wanna change drive i have to restart. I reboot doesnt work

If you mean the 30 seconds to select a OS at boot, then you can uncheck step 5 (OPTION ONE) below.

The backup will restore only the partition that you had selected to back up.

external hard drive, Hard Drives, Caddies, Enclosures items on eBay.com

ps- 300GB is nothing (I have almost 1TB storage capacity). I have a 640GB C: drive (2x320GB HDD raid 0) and another 320GB external (Data drive), and Vista uses almost 100GB just for C: drive shadow copies alone (15%). I advise you to get the largest capacity drives you can afford.
