yet ANOTHER aero problem

sorry to waste your time with this stupid problem again guys, i read all the other aero problem thread and none could help me. so here goes:
i just installed windows vista, then when i went to try to get a new theme, i realized i dont have aero, no glass, no cool window flip thingy (windows key + tab).
I have vista 32bit home premium, and an ATI Radeon X1250 [acer P221Wx]. i would be so grateful to anyone who can help me out, thank you. (im a newbie btw)

I would need to know more about the video card, but I dont think it would be able to run aero. Aero requires a certain level of video card and if your card isnt up to it vista wont use aero.

Edit: I think if you look around you could find the minimum requirements for aero....

The Radeon Xpress X1250 (sometimes also called ATI Mobility Radeon X1250) is an onboard graphic chip, implemented on AMD M690G Northbridge. It is based on X700 design but with less pixel- and vertex pipelines. Its performance is between X1200 and X1270 chipset graphics. It is hardly suited for players. Compared with the integrated graphic card Intel GMA X3100, the X1250 is about 20% faster in games.

The Xpress X1250 supports the Windows Vista Aero surface with high details.

Right click Desktop...Personalize...Windows colour and appearance...Open classic appearance... make sure Windows Aero is selected in dropdown menu, Apply..OK

Have you run the system rating yet?

If you haven't, your score will be 1.0 and will say unrated. If so:

Click on the "Windows Experience Rating" link

wysiwyg Thanks for the obvious tip i feel dumb i didnt check that, but this isnt the version of aero i had before, when i hit Win+ tab they arent 3d, its jsut in a box, but i do have the nice glass effect, do i just have to download another theme? or is this as good as it gets for me.
I tried running performance check, but i cant find it on my computer... i did exactly what you said.

Try this:

Right click on screen > Personalize > Theme > Choose any (Vista basic, classic,etc), Apply > OK.

Repeat to re-open. Before Theme, look for AERO option:check Window colors and appearance,then Desktop background then Theme.

No, the Aero theme is already installed.

By performance check, do you mean The Experience Rating?
