Can anybody tell me if xp can be used instad of vista in a laptop that says " designed for vista"? Iwas told in best buy that such thing would slow the laptop and make it not working properly, because the drivers in xp are out of date... how about if i find the drivers for the laptop and instal them seperatedly with xp?
ANd another q: can i make partitions in vista before installing xp( eventually)? and how?

I have found that Vista runs very nicely on current generation low horsepower laptops and similar computers. Crappy little computers that you would think would never run Vista seem to run it better than some faster older generation systems. Vista seems to like new hardware and optimizes itself to make these slow but new systems look quite good.
That being said you would probably be surprised at how well that laptop runs Vista, even though you might think it doesn't have the power for it. Put 2 Gigs of Ram in it and it will run beautifully. It says built for Vista for a reason. It really is!
Don't buy all the anti Vista hype and settle for a less satisfying computer experience. Especially with a new computer.

Oh dear Lord, computer sales assistants - they need a serious service pack...

I asked a Sony Centre sales assistant recently how many watts that 50" draws - I was told it doesn't use watts, it it 100Hz!

Incompetent people are everywhere......here a computer sales assistant didn't know what a partition is( he was on the computer department).
