Hi all, i've installed vista in my primary hd and i use a second hd for data.
In this second hd i can't change the permission of the folders (i've got a folder with read only permission that i can't remove).

I've already add the permision to Vista users and I've changed the owner to SYSTEM too but without luck.
When i open the disk propeties then to Security tab i can still see the old xp user (the uid) that i've previously removed, then after a second all the current user/permmision appear.

Any suggestion?

Thank's

i forgot, the read-only check is on all the folders of the disk but i can crate, modify and delete without problem.

Does the Red Only box have a Checkmark in it, or is it filled with a green square? If you have the Checkmark, then the Read-Only attribute has been set. If you have the green square, it means that the Read-Only is either undefined or the selection contains files both with and without a read-only attribute.

Does this explain it for you?

Thankyou i haven't noticed that it was filled and not checked.
When i create a new folder (in the root directory of the disk too) the read only box is filled, so i think that it's undefined.

Next step: why is the attribute undefined?
What are the possibilities?

Thanks :)

I'm altogether sure how to answer that one, since by it's nature, a read-only attribute is either ON or OFF. I think perhaps it is meant to highlight that you havn't yet applied the attribute.

The problem is that i cant remove the fill, if i uncheck (or better unfill) the read only box (then it asks you if you want apply the change to all the files, etc..) when i close and then reopen the property the box is still with the green square.

Don't worry about it. Thats been happening on XP also, and it doesn't mean anything, really...
