XP Software Reformatted for Vista

Everyone,

I see where Vista has a feature where you can download software programs that were created for XP or earlier operating systems and they can be used on the Vista operating system. I'm sceptical due to a problem I had when I first got my computer so thought I would ask the experts. First, am I correct that Vista has that capability and if so does it work correctly? If I am correct, is there anything I should be careful about?

This is the greatest web site....wish I'd found it earlier.

Thanks,

TCD

As Airbot mentioned, Compatibility Mode is there for those few errent aplications that haven't been properly coded.
Other than that, most "XP Software" will run fine and without problems on Vista. And my this time, as vast majority of these have been re-written and re-released by the programmers to take advantage of new Vista features.

I am working in a software company... and we really need to rewrite all our codes for it to be compatible with vista, the reason we see is because the flatform we used was not supporting vista that time. now that they've released the new version with vista support we are good to go!

Thanks so much. This is the greatest website.....if this website hasn't been advertised on the Vista program, folks are missing an incredible opportunity.

Just for the record, I have some really really old software, I mean really old, that works just fine in Vista. From Win95 days.
