x64: Unable to connect to internet after system freeze

Not really sure where to put this so I figured here would be the most appropriate.

I've been running Ultimate x64 and had occasional freezing problems. I'm pretty sure those are related to a memory issue. Normally I just have to hard reset the system and everything is fine. But yesterday I had a lock-up, hard reset and somehow the date was changed to 18 Apr, 2066. I obviously couldn't connect to the internet, so I reset the date to 2009 and restarted. No change.

My software subscriptions think they have expired, and I'm at a complete loss here. I require the internet and that software on that system for work and have no idea what to do. I believe as soon as I get the connection up, my subscriptions will talk to their online server friends and all will be fine (hopefully), so that's why this thread is here.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Patriot 4GB 1333MHz DDR3 (currently running at manufacturer's specs of 1.7V and 1333MHz--defaults to 1.5V and 1066 in BIOS)

Hi GoldnEagl,

Try to restore the OS with System Restore, roll it back to the date where everything was working perfectly.

Hope it will help. :)

Cheers...

Thanks for the suggestion. System Restore didn't work, however. Still cannot connect to the internet. I'm getting a self-assigned IP and cannot even log in to my router. Ping to the router reported 100% packet loss.

I tried reinstalling the motherboard Ethernet drivers but that didn't work either.

Any other thoughts?

I'm sorry the wireless still isn't working. Did you try to uninstall old wireless drivers?
Perhaps, Windows see old not used ones and that's the problem. Really I don't know what to think about it.
Try to uninstall drivers, to do this
Type cmd in the start menu box and run it as Administrator

Type SET DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES=1 then press Enter

Type devmgmt.msc and press Enter

When the Device manager window open, click View tab and click Show Hidden Devices

Go to Network Adapters and open it, you will see them all, but what you are interested in are the ones which are greyish, the icons are not in full color but misty.

Right click such one and click Uninstall, do this with all misty ones.

Close the windows. In the Command Prompt window type exit and press Enter.
Shut down your Computer and restart it. Maybe this time it will help, if not,
I suggest to reinstall OS or try to roll the system back to the oldest restore point possible.

Thanks for the suggestion, but the computer is wired so wireless is not the problem. I guess I should have mentioned that. Sorry :)

Anyway, I did some digging last night and have determined that the TCP/IP stack got corrupted somehow and is beyond repair, unfortunately. I did try resetting the IPv4 and IPv6 stacks, as well as Winsock, but those did not work. As this computer is required to be online, my only option at this point is to format the system. Not the worst thing in the world, but definitely something I would rather not have to deal with.

I am formatting as we speak. Thanks for your help anyway :)
