x00000101 BSOD while playing Darkest Hour

Hello All,

First of all, since it's my first post, I'd like to say hi. Hopefuly you'll be able/willing to help me.

For a while now I'm getting a x00000101 BSOD - only while playing a computer game "Darkest Hour". No problems at all with other programs, games or Windows itself. BSOD sappens randomly sometimes it's 10 minutes into the game, sometimes 1h. The game freezes (together with a loop of the current sound), then there's the BSOD and then restart.

These are my specs:

Hi Akaki,

I have analyzed the Blue Screen attachment and found that the Process_Name: Darkest Hour.ex is causing the issue.

I have added the Debug file:

Uninstall the game completely and reinstall it on the computer and check if it works.
If issue persists, reinstall video drivers. Providing the link for detailed instructions to uninstall the driver from device manager: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/171469-uninstall-device-device-driver.html

Also, reinstall the video drivers from the vendor’s website and check.

Please post the results.

Hello Madhur B,

Thank you for your time. I've uninstaled all the drivers and my graphic card, then installed drivers from Gigabyte website. The game itself is a clean instal from Steam. Unfortunately it crashed again. I'm attaching the minidump files, if there's anything else that'd be helpful, please let me know. On a sidenote, I'm showing that there are some conflicts - according to msinfo32. Should I post them as well?

Your problem is due to hardware, The only way to attempt to find a solution is to test the hardware. Lets start with memory.
Run for 6 passes. Then test each stick for 6 passes each

I've created a boot cd and tested each stick, no errors found.

Did you make 6 passes with all the sticks in place?

I followed the instructions from the link and did it with one at a time.

You have to also test them together for 6 passes. If they pass we will do a stress test.

In addition to what richc46 has mentioned, you can run the built-in diagnostics provided by the manufacturer on the computer to check if the complete hardware is working fine.

I've completed the test with both sticks, no errors displayed.

As Madhur indicated (and you did too) the problem seems to be game related. Very often the cause can be determined by a stress test.

Are you running the game in full screen mode or windowed?
Are you using steam to launch the game or are you running it from an icon on your desktop?

I've tried both full screen and windowed, the same thing happens.

Also tried the stress test - not sure if I did everything right, but it indicated no errors.

I realized that I haven't uploaded the .dmp file yet - maybe it might help. Just in case I also checked the device Manager - no errors there, all of the devices appear to be installed properly.
