Wireless Service Not Running

I recently purchased a wireless USB adapter, in order to share my neighbours wireless network (with their permission of course). I got the device installed, it shows up in Device Manager as working fine.
When I turn on the computer (I usually shutdown when I'm finished) and go to "Connect To" the wireless connection is not listed. In this box there is a link saying something like "why are there no wireless connections listed". If I click on this, it says "Wireless Service is not Running". I click on this and it says "repaired" and now my wireless connection is listed and connected.
This happens every time I start up the computer. I also have another desktop computer running XP and don't encounter this problem.
The wireless adapter is an EDUP adapter. I'm sure it's working fine. I did have difficulties installing the drivers for it in XP, but Vista installed the drivers with no problem.
Does anyone have any answers as to how to solve this problem? The connection in Vista was set up to connect automatically, but as I say, I always encounter the "Wireless service not running" message and then it "repairs" itself.
Thanks for any and all advice.

go to start, run, services.msc. set the networking services as automatic startup.
