Windows Vista Wont Boot

Hi

I thought I had found what the problem was, but it wasn't the BootMGR Compressed fault.

I have a Toshiba sattelite running vista 32bit laptop that wont boot up.

Whats happening is:

Inturn the laptop on and it goes to the Toshiba boot screen, then goes off that screen to the green scrolling bar screen, with the words microsoft corporation.

Then it just keeps looping through this sequence.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Any help would be greatfully appreciated.

Thanks

Buzz

What Exactly did you do Before this Happened? Did you do a Hard Shutdown?

Many Thanks,

Cheers for all the quick replies.

Sequence of events before it happened.
Started laptop yesterday and it started doing a disk check, but I cancelled it. (no hard shutdown before). Laptop started fine, but there was no sound on anything. Then on youtube the videos were all jumpy.
So restarted and let it do the disk check. Took a couple of hours. Restarted and it was the same no sound.
So was updating the sound drivers (Realtek) and after a couple more restarts it started just going in this loop as explained above.

What I've done so far is a system repair, and followed the instruction for the boomgr compressed fault.

Edit

Cant create a recovery disc as I am only on my phone at the moment.

If you can create that DVD, you may be able to boot.

I have just looked at the create a recovery disc page. I might be able to get my brother to make me one.

I did notice it will take me to the system recovery options box.
I can get to this without the disc and I tried the startup repair with no luck.

Do I need the disc to do something else?

Unfortunately that is what the DVD does. But I thouht you said, that it went there and then went to another screen?

Yeah tried all the usual stuff. To be honest I'm usually pretty good at solving the problem. but this one has got me baffled!!

Think I might have to bite the bullet and do a fresh install. About time I upgraded to Windows 7 anyway

I was going to suggest that. When you decide, I will give you material on how to do it the best way.

I have just started it with the recovery disc. Luckily I backed up my music the other week. Just lost a few albums. There was some other stuff I lost, that I will have to get again. Not sure if I will be able to recover anything.
