Hey guys,

i'm having a problem with windows update. It's not an error of some kind, but it appears as if it is set on never cheking for updates and even when i change the settings nothing happens. and when i push "check for updates" it says that it's not possible to check for updates cause the service is not running. any thoughts? Thanks a lot!

Click start, type "services" where you see start search, in services right click Windows update and click properties, select startup type as Automatic and click Ok. Now the update should work.

I don't think it can be deleted, in services it appears with other windows services.
EDIT:
You can try system restore to a previous date when it was working will solve it for you, if that fails, start->accessories-> right click command prompt and type "sfc /scannow" without quotes. Have a look at this Tutorial as well:
