[solved] Windows Server 2008 and HP LaserJet 1020

First of all, since it is a Windows Server 2008 question, I don't know where to post but here in "General Discussion". Moderators, feel free to move the thread if you deem it's more appropriate somewhere else.

So, today I installed Windows Server 2008 Standard on my home server. Installation went fine and everything seems to work except...duplex printing on my HP LaserJet 1020.
I installed the device using drivers for Vista and it worked like a charm. Print server role is set up on the server so my other computers can use the print services.
However, when I try to print duplex, something goes terribly wrong: I can't get the "turn the page and press continue" screen. Everything worked fine under Win2k3 but here, Win2008 fires up "interactive services" or something like that and when I say I want to use those to access my "continue" screen, I can't see the screen. Sure there's a box of some sort, but nothing but black screen inside.
???

Any ideas?

this is the cause:

well, to answer myself really and help all those people out there:

I got it to work, and here's how. I installed the printer locally on Windows Server 2008 machine via USB port using HP Vista 32bit drivers.Installation worked fine so did the printing of the test page (locally).

I then set up Print server role and set up sharing with other computers on my network (one Vista 32bit and one Vista 64bit). It also worked like a charm and printed the test page successfully.

Now I wanted to use duplex printing (the "print on both sides manually" option). Well, since duplex printing requires the HP Status window to appear were it tells you to take the printed pages and put them back in the printer and then pres Continue, Windows Interactive Services dialog appears telling you that he detected an application wanting to "show you something" and that you need to do it in session 0.

Well, just answer yes, and it will bring you to the "session 0" which is some kind of "desktop twilight zone" were all you have are two screens. Well, one screen which is supposed to be the HP status window is black, as if not working...or so you think. but it's there! just keep pressing with your mouse on the lower-right side until you eventually hit the Continue button (it's there somewhere). After you do that the printer will start to print the pages normally. Then you return to the normal desktop session via the other screen (that says something like:"This session is done. Press to continue").

The bottomline: HP doesn't have WHQL drivers for Windows Server 2008 and it's "special" session0 mode. I contacted them and explained the problem. We'll see...
