Windows Repeated Beep Lag

I just installed Vista x64 Ultimate on my HP TX1300 laptop (Realtek HDA sound). I was dual-booting XP Pro and Ubuntu 8.04 before.

Problem:
Whenever I press a button that causes Windows to make a chime/beep, and I hold it down so that it continuously beeps, the chimes get a little choppy and keep beeping for a while after I let go of the button. There appears to be some lag in the system that causes it to not repeat the beeps fast enough, so that the queued up beeps keep playing even after I let go.

I have tried using HP's updated audio drivers and the audio drivers listed in the sticky above, but neither work. I did not have this problem in XP or Linux.

Only thing that I believe could be causing this is the fact that I only have 1GB of RAM installed (with 256MB of it shared with the graphics card). I have 2GB arriving in the mail tomorrow.
