It has been working fine, but now when ever you open a photo it is not right it is all dull. Anyone know why this is?

Have you changed any settings in the Photo Gallery? It looks to me like the Gamma settings has been adjusted down....

No, but my little brother goes on the computer maby he has changed some. But I don't think he has. I have had quite a few monitors. Could it be something in the colour management settings? How do you get to the Windows Photo Gallery settings, I could not find them.

I doubt it would be in the color mgmt settings - both the background and the WLPG are showing on the same monitor, right? so if it looks good in one it should look good in the other as well if it were *monitor* related.

I just checked mine and the images are showing identically in WLPG as well as on my desktop:

WLPG Example.jpg

However, after clicking on some buttons, I clicked on the fix button and saw

WLPG Example 2.PNG

Perhaps the file has been changed a bit, or this is a duplicate that is changed?

They are on the same monitor, it is with all the photos when you open them up with WLPG. If you open them up in pain, IE7 or something they will be fine.

"Windows Photo Gallery" is what is included "in-the-box" with Windows Vista. "Windows Live Photo Gallery" is a seperate, free download. There are some improvements over the standard Vista version, and your own problem may be resolved too.

Hey Dzomlija, out of interest, are you using the new beta Version of Windows Live Photo Gallery?

Cheers. sassofalco

Yes

The look is different, but are there any other major differences?

Not all that many. The one gripe I have with it is when I mouse over a tag in the right-hand view. Previously, it would show the full tag on the tooltip (for example "Wallpaper/Nature/Sunsets"), but now the BETA only shows the last one (in this example "Sunsets").

Not a major issue, I suppose, but it does make it harder to distinguish between tags like "Wallpaper/Nature/Sunsets" or "Source Images/Nature/Sunsets" that both show up as "Sunsets" if multiple files are selected.

In that case, I guess that I keep my current Version until they sort out all the User Feedback gripes and fix any bugs. Quite happy with it, and Microsoft Research Trial of Auto-Collage.

Good Afternoon Joan,

Have you noticed many changes or differences from your current Version, and the previous Version 2008 - Build 12.0.1329.201?

Dzomlija has already pointed out one minor, but potentially annoying variation [less flexibility in tags and search options].

Cheers. sassofalco

To be honest I haven't really taken much notice I don't really use it that much I just put photo's in the Picture folder burn them to CD for backup then put them into their own folders in Pictures and that's it :D

I'll apologise now if I'm late getting back here, I'm in the middle of cooking Sunday dinner so may disappear again in a minute and not get back for a while ;)
