My problem is when using windows media player to burn a music CD, where does it till you that the CD is full. In prier versions there is/was a time line stamp that would let you know how many songs you could put on that media and in third party burning software as well. So when using this software how do I know how many songs I cant put on the disc?

Don't know. I use CDBurnerXP or Burrrn. You could also use Imgburn but the other 2 have built in support for converting .flac and other formats to audio.

I use express burn at the moment. I was just wondering why media player doesn't have that built in. I can load as many songs as I want to burn but when I click burn I am over the time limit of the cd. There is no way of knowing unless I add up the minutes which is a big freaking pain in the arss. Thanks for the suggestions.

Another thing that comes in handy. When you mentioned adding up the times I thought of it. I used to use Winamp default playlist editor with that tiny font just because it added up all the playtimes. I asked a programmer who hangs out on DonationCoder.com to put a little GUI together so you could drag & drop media files to total the play times. That can be found in Coding Snacks section of the forum there. But, I didn't realize in Vista if you have Preview and the explorer navigation sidebar thingy enabled, if you select a bunch of media files it adds up the disk space and the total playtime! A little gem I didn't realize was there. Same thing works in W7.

No, I don't have that preview or explorer navigation sidebar thing enabled or do I know where to enable it at/from. I have scoured every where in media player and cant find a darn thing.

I must be a dumb ass, I just found out that you have to put in the media disc's then at the top there it tells me how much MB are remaining. I was doing it bass akwards, dropping content to burn then putting in the disc when I should have been putting in the disc then dropping in the content to burn. I learned this one the hard way I reckon....lol.

What I was talking about wasn't media player. Just for reference, in Windows File Explorer window, if you have Preview enabled and the navigation pane on the left(the tree view with desktop computer documents etc.) all you have to do is select media files with the mouse and it gives the total file space and play time in that blue area at the bottom(at least it's blue on my system but I'm running Vista "purple" theme, so who knows? )

It is a handy feature. Just saves dragging the files to some media app to get that info.
