ViHi, my windows mail is corrupted and will not open. I want to put all the mail on a USB Flash drive. However, I can't find it in
c:\users\user\appdata\local\microsoft\windows mail
Any ideas how mail is stored?

See below. Is my mail still here in one of these files?

All I see is these files and folders
windowsmail (3).pat

Hello Jasperjaz, and welcome to Vista Forums.

The emails will be .eml files in the message folders in the hidden folder below. When you're ready to restore them, you can just drag and drop these .eml files into your Inbox in Windows Mail or any other email client program.

C:\users\(user-name)\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail\Local Folders

You might also check in any "Local Folders....." listed to see if they may be in it.

Hope this helps, :)
Shawn

If there are not any files with the .eml file extension in any of your email folders in "Local Folders", then you do not have any messages in them. :(

The .fol files are just data files for that folder's settings.

Double check in the "local folders Compact backup" folder as well.
