Windows Mail

Am having 2 problems with mail.
Am sending messages that are not being received - it is not every message, and not to the same person (and no message that it could not be delivered!). I normally find out when I have not received an acknowledgement, or a reply, and I ring to find out why.
Second problem is that not all messages appear in the "sent" folder. Seems to be a random problem - not address related (ie messages sent to the same organisation - some appear in the sent folder, some do not).
Am using Vista Home Premium, with Avast.
Any advice would be appreciated

Hi rontbe and welcome to the forums,

Do you have a stable internet connection? Do you close Windows Mail right after hitting the send button? I am thinking that because of a hiccup in your connection, the message might not get sent, so it gets sent to your "Outbox" folder (where unsent emails are stored). It may be a more complicated problem, but as I don't use Windows Mail, I can't tell you exactly...

Thanks for your response. I have a broadband internet connection which is very stable, I do not normally close Windows Mail after sending a message, and I have nothing in the "Outbox" folder

Got a question - you'll need to do some extensive testing, but you'll need to see if the mails you're sending that are not being received are the same ones as the ones that are not making it to your sent folder - because it is possible that your AV is intercepting them and not allowing them to go through, which means that WM will never move them to the sent folder as they were never actually sent.

You might also check with your ISP - my ISP email, for example, has a very stringent spam blocker, and when I tried sending email to CastleCops to report Spam, my ISPs mail most often rejected it, so I had to use another email account to report spam.

Finally, Is this happening to email that you create from scratch or email that you reply to or both?

Here are the answers to your questions.
Some of the mail sent and not received does appear in my "Sent" folder.
Have not received any "rejected" messages (other than when I mistyped the email address).
Not appearing in my "Sent" folder appears to happen to emails I raise from scratch (but not all).

OK, more specifically - you're basically saying it is unrelated then, because:

now, on this second part - do message that do not appear in your sent mail *also* not appear when they are replies, or is it *only* message that are new, from scratch, that sometimes appear and sometimes do not?

basically, what I am asking is that do *all* your replies show up there?
