Windows Mail Tray Icon

Hi,

I installed the windows mail tray icon. Is this considered logged into Windows Mail or will I have to click it each time to check mail?

If it is not logged into Windows Mail, is there a program associated with Windows Mail that will let me know when I have email in Windows Mail without keeping Windows Mail open?

I don't use Windows Mail but you may be able to right click on the tray icon and choose "show desktop message when I receive mail" or "show icon in tray when I receive mail" If not open the tools/options within the mail program itself and choose to show a message when you get mail. I hope this works for you.

Thank you for responding so quickly. Unfortunately, Windows Mail does not have those options for setting changes. It appears to be more basic than the old Outlook Express which it is supposed to mimic.

The icon should change when you get mail. That is the same in Windows Live Mail, Outlook, ect...... That is one way to tell if you have new mail.

Hello MiyaM, and welcome to Vista Forums.

I would recommend using the free Windows Live Mail instead. It is much better and more stable IMO. Plus, the tray icon is built-in.
