Windows Mail problem

I am having a mail problem. After going on a trip and connecting to the hotel WI-FI, my sent folder in MS mail is now empty. Whenever I send an email I get an error message that the message could not be sent and it is sent to the Outbox for sending later. If you click on that message it says "message could not be found" but the sent address is there and the from address is there as if it is a message. You have to delete it from the outbox or mail tries to send it every time you open or close mail. In reality the message is delivered even though it appears that it didn't. Any ideas?!?!

Thanks for your reply. I have checked for a virus. I have McAfee and it is current and it found nothing.
How do you find where the store location is?
