Has anyone figured out why we have to go into task manager to shut off e-mail for Vista 64 bit? You can't just log off by going to exit.

It's not clear from your post whether you're finding that the app simply won't close at all, in which case I'd presume the window simply hangs around with an hourglass(?), or whether the Task Manager's process list shows the process still running for some time after the window closes.

If it's the latter, that's possibly normal. "Full" Outlook behaves that way too. The process hangs around to do cleanup work on the data store even once the UI window disappears, but after a while the process should also be gone from the TM's list.

If it's the former (the UI simply hangs or fails to respond to your attempts to close the app), then there's something wrong on your specific machine and you shouldn't assume everyone experiences the same symptom.

Either way, if you describe what's going on in more detail, someone may be able to give you a better answer.
