Windows Mail Attachments

A new problem has just started in Windows Mail on Vista Home Premium. When I open an attachment, things work properly. But when I open another attachment, even in a new email, Windows Mail crashes and restarts. This is now very consistent. Each second time I open an attachment, the system crashes.

I would appreciate any help.

Hello Rcasher, and welcome to Vista Forums.

What antivirus program are you using?

Do you have any type of email scanning option enabled in your antivirus program? If so, disable that option to see if that may help.

If none of this helps, then you might try the free Windows Live Mail instead. It is a lot more stable IMO.

Hello Shawn,

I am using Norton Internet Security. I disabled email scanning but still had the problem. I am considering Windows Live Mail but still reading about it. My main email is Gmail which downloads to Windows Mail via the POP server.

If that is the 2007 version of Norton, then you may need to uninstall Norton completely for Windows Mail to work. See the options (First one) in Problem One in this tutorial for more details about this.

I would recommend Windows Live Mail instead.
