Windows Live Messenger Update

I do not wish to install the update to Windows Live Messenger. It makes my computer lag something terrible. Is there a way to access the mail without installing it in Vista?

Can't you just go to the website, mail.live.com? Or are you trying to use windows live mail without updating messenger?
