Hi MWRED, no that does not work either?? driving me crazy!!

Unable to send or receive messages for the Hotmail (riptorn3) account. Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity.

Try going back into the settings for that account, under the servers tab, and check the box at the bottom that says "My server requires authentication". Then next to that, open the settings and check "Use same settings as my incoming mail server".

That's about as far as I can get. If that doesn't work, I imagine someone will come along and point out something that we could be missing.

Good luck.

Hey, I know how you can set that up. I use Windows Mail with Hotmail all the time. You can set up Y! Mail and GMail in it too.

Anyways, to set up a Hotmail account, you need to change some settings here and there after setting it up. Delete all that you have set up and follow the instructions from start to end, here:

How to Access Free Windows Live Hotmail in Windows Mail - About Email

Honestly, it will work :).

Hi, can you send emails?
I did all what was suppose to do, but i cannot send any emails only recieve them.

The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the "I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was '[email protected]'. Subject 'Here are the photos that I want to share with you', Account: 'pop3.live.com', Server: 'smtp.live.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '530 5.7.0 Must issue a STARTTLS command first', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 530, Error Number: 0x800CCC78

Did you check the box that said 'This server requires a secure connection'? And followed every setting properly?

Also, remember. Windows Mail does not mark the messages as read and doesn't delete the messages on the server. It just downloads the messages (and deletes them from the server unless you check the box that says 'Leave a copy of the messages on the server' in the Advanced settings) and puts them in the deleted folders etc. on your computer only.

If you are not able to use your email with Windows Mail, you can try using the free program Windows Live Mail, which is similar to Windows Mail, and is a part of the Windows Live Essentials that you can download from Essentials - Windows Live It's a program made for Windows Live Hotmail by Microsoft.
